Obama: 2009-2013 - By the numbers

Is America better off now than it was four years ago when President Barack Obama took office? It depends on the numbers you want to crunch.
Then: 7.8 percent

Now: 7.9 percent

Unemployment reached its highest rate in October 2009 at 10 percent and has not been below 7.8 percent since Obama took office. Note: These rates are seasonally adjusted and account for fluctuations that may happen to occur during certain times of the year.
